หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Variability of French Bean in the Western Mid Hills of Nepal) ผู้เขียน:Yama Raj Pandey, Durga Mani Gautam, Resham Bahadur Thapa, Moha Dutta Sharma, Krishna Prasad Paudyal สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractVariability was studied among 18 exotic and indigenous French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes collected from research centers, agro-vets and traditional farming villages of the western hills of Nepal. The collected genotypes were field evaluated at the Agriculture Research Station, Malepatan, Pokhara at 848 m above sea level during the summer season of 2010 with the objectives to assess the variability in the exotic and indigenous genotypes and their potential for utilization in improvement programs. The results of the study showed that the variability was higher in adaptation, vegetative growth, floral and pod characteristics. The plant survival at harvest was higher in pole-type than in bush-type beans ranging from 97.92 to 54.17% with means of 83.71% and 79.80%, respectively. Bush-type beans were earlier in flowering than pole-type beans ranging from 32 to 174.33 d with a mean of 35.76 and 76.61 d, respectively. Pod length and width were higher in pole- type beans than in bush-type beans ranging from 20.45 to 7.67 cm in length and 33.53 to 7.37 mm in width. The variability indicated that the collected genotypes were distinctly different. The results revealed that the French bean genotype in the mid hills of Nepal is highly diverse and could be considered as the secondary center of genetic diversity. The diverse genotypes should be conserved and utilized for varietal improvement. |
หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Stability of Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) Oil with TBHQ (Antioxidant Tertiary Butyl Hydroquinone) by Ultrasonic Studies) ผู้เขียน:Mujeeda Banu, N. Prasad สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractThe efficiency of TBHQ (tertiary butyl hydroquinone) as an antioxidant in peanut (Arachis hypogaea) oil was evaluated by ultrasonic studies. The effect of TBHQ on the oxidation stability of peanut oil was examined. The antioxidant-peanut oil system, in parallel with a control experiment, was subjected to heating at 180 ? 5 ?C continuously for a daily period of 4 h for four consecutive days. The parameters used to assess the thermal degradation and oxidation properties of the antioxidant in oils were: ultrasonic velocity, viscosity, density and peroxide value. The adiabatic compressibility, intermolecular free length, relaxation time and acoustic impedance were calculated from the experimental data. Changes in the viscosity, density and ultrasonic velocity in the control were from 0.26553 ? 10-1 to 1.28729 ? 10-1 10kg. m-1.s-1, 912.59 to 938.31 kg.m-3 and 1422 to 1480 m.s-1, respectively, and in peanut oil with 200 ppm TBHQ were from 0.29129 ? 10-1 to 0.573459 ? 10-1 kg.m-1.s-1, 913.58 to 922.45 kg.m-3 and 1426 to 1446 m.s-1, respectively, with the 16 h of heating. The results obtained showed an improvement in the thermal degradation and oxidation stability of the formulation compared with the base oil, while ultrasonic studies helped to determine the stability of the edible oil. Hence, it is recommended that peanut oil with TBHQ can be used for frying without any adverse effect and ultrasonic properties can be used for the assessment of the stability of frying oil. |

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Effect of Chemical and Soil Amendment for the Control of Bacterial Wilt of Potato in Nepal Caused by Ralstonia solanacearum) ผู้เขียน:Shambhu PRASAD DHITAL, ดร.นิพนธ์ ทวีชัย, ศาสตราจารย์, ดร.วิชัย โฆสิตรัตน, รองศาสตราจารย์, ดร.เกษม พิลึก, รองศาสตราจารย์, Sundar Kumar Shrestha สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf Abstract Management to control bacterial wilt of potato caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (RS) (Syn. Pseudomonas solanacearum) race 3, biovar II was carried out by amending infested soils with stable bleaching powder (SBP) and a mixture of urea and lime (urea-lime) at different concentrations and combinations under glasshouse and field conditions of Nepal. Soils infested with RS were treated with either SBP or urea-lime mix two weeks before planting with the highly susceptible and healthy potato seeds cultivar Kufri Jyoti. The SBP treatment at 25 kg/ha provided an effective disease control for both glasshouse and field conditions in which disease suppressions in glasshouse and field experiment were 66.96% and 71.87% for plant infection and 76.94% and 88.89% for tuber infection as compared to nontreated control, respectively. Tuber yields of the SBP treatment at 25 kg/ha were 121.5 g/plant in the glasshouse and 13.54 kg/plot in the field which were not significantly different from the treatment of SBP at 12 kg/ha+urea-lime mix at 428 kg/ha urea and 5 ton/ha lime. The RS population was reduced in all treatments except in nontreated control in which the treatment SBP at 25 kg/ha demonstrated the lowest RS population of 3.01 and 2.06 log cfu/g dry soil at 120 days after amendment in glasshouse and field experiments , respectively. The resuls indicated that the use of SBP at the rate of 25 kg/ha was effective and suitable than the other treatments for the control of bacterial wilt in infested soils under glasshouse and field conditions. Alternatively, soil amendment with 428 kg/ha urea and 5 ton/ha lime can be used to effectively control the bacterial wilt disease where SBP is not available. |

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Effects of Organic Manures on Production of Lettuce
(Lactuca sativa L.) in Reference to Chemical Fertilizer) ผู้เขียน:Krishna PRASAD PAUDEL, นางสุเทวี ศุขปราการ, รองศาสตราจารย์, Krung Sidathani, Yongyut Osotsapar สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractThe effect of three types of organic manures, its combination within and with chemical fertilizer
was studied under the nylon net house. A lettuce cultivar of ‘Green Fancy’ was grown during December,
2002, February and April 2003. The same amount of nitrogen from organic manures and chemical
fertilizers was applied to the experimental plots for each crop. Cow dung (CD), chicken manure (CM) and
duck manure (DM) were applied 4.5, 4.7 and 5.8 t/ha, respectively, contributing 81 kg nitrogen each. In
the case of combination treatments each combination contributed 1:1 ratio of nitrogen. A treatment with
recommended dose of chemical fertilizer (CF) providing 81 kg nitrogen was also included. The crop
grown with 4.7 t/ha of CM alone and its combination with CF (2.35 ton CM plus 156 kg complete fertilizer
i.e., 15-15-15 together with 82 kg/ha of ammonium sulfate) gave a significantly higher yield throughout
the crop season. Combination treatments within organic manures did not establish any statistical
significance. In spite of the differences in total yield, fiber content and dry matter percentage showed not
significant results irrespective of treatments and crop seasons. |
